Safety first

Inspecting and repairing rotor blades at dizzying heights is not a job like any other. Therefore, extensive training is necessary for safe and routine work.

A central element of this training is rescuing an injured person while hanging from ropes on the rotor blade. cp.max regularly practices the basic technique for such a rescue in its own workshop, a few meters above the ground.

Of course, the conditions on a wind turbine are completely different. The height is not only 10 meters, but is in the range of 100 meters. Added to this are wind and weather and the longer distances to rescue when abseiling.

That's why we recently carried out another rescue exercise directly on a wind turbine. An employee hung on the rotor blade and represented the person to be rescued. The colleague rappelled down from the gondola and took the employee to be rescued onto his own rope route and then drove together to the ground.

Thanks to regular training, this exercise was also very successful and will soon be repeated for even more employees.
