Rotor blades are among the largest and most expensive components of a wind turbine. Due to the extremely high loads during years of operation, damages are unavoidable.
The good news first: almost all damage to rotor blades can be repaired with manageable effort. Usually it is not necessary to take the blades down to the ground. This saves the extraordinarily high costs for a corresponding crane, the dismantling of a blade and a new blade that may be necessary.
In most cases, even the largest damages, which extend over many square meters and penetrate the entire blade shell, can be repaired. Some of these repairs can be performed with particularly little effort using rope access. If this is not possible, work platforms are used.
cp.max has gained experience with numerous major repairs at all kinds of blade types over the past 25 years. We benefit from our cooperation with well-known rotor blade designers and manufacturers. This allows us to take a comprehensive look at the damage and repair.
By bundling the know-how from design, production and repair, causes can be investigated and the repair can be adjusted accordingly. Sometimes it is also necessary to modify the construction of the blade to prevent the damage from reoccurring.
Such individually adapted repairs can often also be used to restore blades that initially seemed irreparable. So don't be afraid to have your damaged rotor blades inspected by us!
At the WindEnergy in Hamburg we would be happy to advise you personally on the repair of major and minor damage and the aerodynamic optimization of rotor blades.
